报告摘要
In the studies of systems that are hierarchically complex and chemically heterogeneous, e.g. the researches in energy materials, it is critical to understand the relationship between the macroscopic material property and the microscopic morphology/chemistry. This is because the overall material behaviors are believed to be the ramifications of the interplay of its structural and chemical properties at fine length scales.  In this presentation, I will discuss the state-of-the-art x-ray spectro-microscopy, which has been widely regarded as a powerful tool for visualizing the energy materials across different length scales and under operating conditions. Case studies in the field of battery research will be presented, highlighting the importance of numerical methods that could extract scientifically important information from the large scale imaging.
