abstract: Conformal field theories (CFT) describe the universal physics for continuous phase transitions. While many 2D CFTs have been well understood for decades, higher dimensional CFTs are much harder problems. A new approach, called numerical bootstrap, is a very powerful tool to study those CFTs non-perturbatively. In this talk, I will explain the basic idea of conformal bootstrap and its applications to 3D critical phenomena. I will discuss, by combining mixed correlator bootstrap equation with supersymmetry constrain, critical exponents in the 3D super-Ising model can be calculated with unprecedented precision. Our results show this model indeed has emergent supersymmetry, therefore confirm its potential of being realized as the boundary of a topological superconductor.

Brief CV

I got my PhD in Texas A&M University in 2016. I am now postdoc in Institute of Theoretical Physics Chinese Academy of Sciences. I will join EPFL in Oct 2018 as postdoc fellow. My main research interests are non-perturbative methods in CFT and QFT.
